    La articulación temporomandibular (ATM), es una de las articulaciones más complejas del ser humano, realiza la función de la oclusión dental y el sistema neuromuscular. Los trastornos temporomandibulares (TTM) son afecciones musculo esqueléticas muy frecuentes en la población, que provocan dolor y discapacidad. El oobjetivo es analizar los trastornos temporomandibulares y rehabilitación cráneo-cervico maxilo-facial. La revisión de la literatura sobre este tema, se realizó mediante la búsqueda electrónica en bases de datos digitales como Pubmed, Google Academic, Scopus, Lilacs, Cochrane library. La búsqueda de la información se realizó desde el año 1964 al 2022. Después de aplicar los criterios de inclusión en total se obtuvieron y revisaron 20 artículos. Se realizó la revisión de literatura de Trastornos temporomandibulares y Rehabilitación cráneo-cervico maxilo-facial. La literatura disponible reveló que los trastornos temporomandibulares, sobre el dolor y la reevaluación de la historia natural de este grupo de trastornos musculoesqueléticos han llevado a una revolución tanto del enfoque diagnóstico como del terapéutico.

    The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is one of the most complex joints of the human being, performing the function of dental occlusion and the neuromuscular system. Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) are very frequent musculoskeletal disorders in the population, which cause pain and disability. The objective is to analyze temporomandibular disorders and cranio-cervico-maxillofacial rehabilitation. The review of the literature on this topic was carried out by means of an electronic search in digital databases such as Pubmed, Google Academic, Scopus, Lilacs, Cochrane library. The information search was carried out from 1964 to 2022. After applying the inclusion criteria, a total of 20 articles were obtained and reviewed. The literature review of temporomandibular disorders and cranio-cervico maxillofacial rehabilitation was performed. The available literature revealed that temporomandibular disorders, on pain and reevaluation of the natural history of this group of musculoskeletal disorders have led to a revolution in both the diagnostic and therapeutic approach.
