The present research emerged from the project: “Perception of the Directors of Educational Centres in the Province of Teruel during the Impact of COVID-19,” funded by the Antonio Gargallo University Foundation (FUAG) of Teruel, with code 2020/B012, and carried out by professors from the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of Teruel. This research aims to reveal the multidimensional impact that COVID-19 had at the centre level, classroom level, individual level, and on other members of the Educational Community. The main objective is to determine the emotional intelligence capacities of principals to lead in adverse circumstances and to assess the emotional climate of the entire Educational Community in Teruel due to the impact of COVID-19. Regarding the method, a mixed design was employed using both quantitative (questionnaires) and qualitative (personal interviews) instruments.
During the pandemic, the importance of emotional aspects in the educational community became evident. Most centres were already working on emotional education, and thus, will continue along with other measures to benefit emotional health, reduce conflicts, and enhance teacher coordination.
