The Passio SS. Perpetuae et Felicitatis consists of two texts: one in Latin and the other in Greek. The general opinion is that the Latin version of the text is the original, and the Greek version is its translation. The present work focuses on the explanation of the words of Greek origin that appear in the Latin text of the Passio through a lexical-semantic approach divided into four sections: the words tegnon and catechumenus; the words of Christian Latin (“direct lexicographical Christianisms”); the specific words of martyrdom (arrest, trial); and finally, the words that contain a totally religious and, above all, liturgical charge. In short, the aim is to show the use of the Greek language by the protagonist of the Passio in the Latin text with the use of words that were more colloquial or familiar, and at the same time, understandable and identifying Christians, a closeness to the people and to God.
