El simbolismo de las aves en las canciones populares chipriotas de muerte

    En el mundo griego antiguo, determinadas representaciones iconográficas de las aves son muestra de la temprana existencia de estos animales como símbolo relacionado con el alma, la muerte y/o el más allá. Pese a que no se dispone de textos populares del periodo histórico correspondiente a aquel, se encuentran referencias semejantes a las anteriores en obras de célebres poetas trágicos. Asimismo, dicho símbolo se distingue en las canciones populares chipriotas de Jaros, sus miroloyia y otros lamentos. Dada por tanto la pervivencia de este elemento a través de distintas manifestaciones artísticas y el tiempo, así como su relación con tales canciones (podrían tener origen en la Antigüedad), se analiza el simbolismo de las aves en las canciones chipriotas aportando a su vez ejemplos de referencias análogas en otros textos griegos.

    In the Ancient Greek world, certain iconographic representations of birds are proof of the early existence of these animals as a symbol related with the soul, the death and/or the afterlife. Even though there are not folk texts from the historic period corresponding to that world, there are also similar references to the previous ones in works of famous tragic poets. Likewise, that symbol is distinguished in Charos’s Cypriot folk songs, its mournfuls (miroloyia) and other laments. Consequently, given the survival of this element through art and time, as well as its relation with these songs (they could find its origins in the Antiquity), the symbolism of the birds in the Cypriot folk songs are analysed, giving examples of analogous references in other Greek texts.
