Word and Art are, to a large extent, what differentiates us from animals. Not only because of their great power to transmit a message, but also because of their essential impact on any culture. With a conceptual approach, the aim is to elucidate between an academic and a practical approach, with the focus on what has so far at best been regarded as ancillary: the Title and the Exhibit Label in art. The former as creative material that the artist can use for his work; and the latter as a paradigmatic tool for providing a hermeneutic context simultaneously and parallel to the artistic exhibition. The autonomy between the two, also with respect to the physicality of the work, can present challenges of great magnitude, if the aim is to capture the interest of new art spectators, not necessarily ‘connoisseurs’.
