«Los llamamos a todos», ritual de difuntos en la costa de Ecuador. Una propuesta metodológica para su análisis

    En este artículo se analiza en profundidad el ritual de muerte en la Península de Santa Elena, Ecuador, ilustrando al mismo tiempo un método para el análisis de los símbolos y de la ritualidad. Este ritual gira en torno a la mesa de difuntos, permitiendo entender cómo estas poblaciones consideran primordial establecer relación con las almas de sus parientes muertos y reafirmar así sus lazos sociales ancestrales y su razón de ser y existir. Sin embargo, es a través del método de análisis que proponemos que se descubrirán las aguas más profundas de este ritual en el que el juego de combinaciones entre las acciones rituales y los elementos simbolizados se irá desvelando. Así, la metodología de análisis mostrará cómo el ritual es en realidad un acto performativo que sirve para ficcionar lo que se vive a nivel de la experiencia humana.

    This article analyses the death ritual in the Santa Elena Peninsula, Ecuador, illustrating at the same time a method for the analysis of symbols and rituals. This ritual revolves around the table for the dead, allowing us to understand how these populations of the Santa Elena Peninsula consider it essential to establish a relationship with their dead relatives and thus reaffirm their social ties and their reason for being and existing. However, it is through the method of analysis that the deepest waters of this ritual will be discovered, in which the game of combinations between the ritual actions and the symbolized elements will be revealed. Thus, the proposed methodology will show how the analysed ritual is a performative act that serves to fictionalize what is lived at the level of human experience.
