Vecindades en trayectoria histórica: migraciones, urbanismo y acción vecinal en la periferia madrileña

    En el presente trabajo, tomando como referencia el caso de Vallecas, nos planteamos de qué manera la vertebración de la vecindad se articula en el contexto histórico y las condiciones materiales en la construcción de un barrio periférico situado en el sureste de Madrid. Las migraciones, en un primer momento de carácter interno y a partir de la década de los noventa de origen extranjero, el perfil trabajador de su población y el déficit dotacional a diferentes niveles serán características constantes que se manifestarán diferencialmente a lo largo del arco temporal. De la misma manera, el carácter reivindicativo del barrio se plasmará en diversas experiencias de la lucha vecinal, acorde a las circunstancias del momento en que se producen.

    In this paper, taking the case of Vallecas as a reference, we consider how the structure of the neighbourhood is articulated in the historical context and the material conditions in the construction of a peripheral neighbourhood located in the south-east of Madrid. Migrations, initially of an internal nature and from the 1990s of foreign origin, the working profile of its population and the lack of facilities at different levels will be constant characteristics that will manifest themselves differentially throughout the time span. In the same way, the protest character of the neighbourhood will be reflected in various experiences of neighbourhood struggle, according to the circumstances of the moment in which they occur.
