    Lavapiés, ubicado en el barrio administrativo de Embajadores, en el distrito Centro de Madrid, como otros barrios centrales españoles, pasó de una etapa de deterioro a ser un lugar de asentamiento de migración extranjera, al mismo tiempo que avanzaba la gentrificación y, más recientemente, la turistización. Esto lo ha configurado como un barrio super diverso en el que centralidad inmigrante, gentrificación, turistización y vulnerabilidad coexisten manteniendo relaciones complejas entre sí. Este artículo aborda cómo repercuten en el barrio estos procesos, cómo los percibe su vecindario y qué papel desempeña en o frente a ellos.

    Lavapiés is located in the administrative neighbourhood of Embajadores, in the Centro District of Madrid. Like other downtown neighbourhoods in Spain, it became a settlement for foreign migration after a deteriorative stage. At the same time, gentrification was advancing, as well as the recent touristification processes. All these facts have shaped it as a superdiverse neighbourhood, where immigration, gentrification, touristification and vulnerability coexist through complex relationships. This text addresses the impact of these processes within the neighbourhood, how the neighbours notice them and their role in or against them.
