    A partir de un trabajo de recopilación bibliográfica se presentan críticamente las propuestas de los principales especialistas abocados a desentrañar las causas y características de la crisis y decadencia que afectó al Imperio español desde las últimas décadas del siglo XVI hasta mediados del siglo XVII. Desde la década de 1950 el surgimiento y consolidación de diversas escuelas historiográficas, definidas por marcos teóricos y temas de estudio que las particularizan, han abonado el vasto y complejo campo de estudio abocado a desentrañar las causas y características de la crisis del Siglo de Oro español. El presente trabajo es una síntesis analítica que busca sistematizar los principales aportes realizados hasta la actualidad.

    Based on a bibliographical compilation, the proposals of the main specialists devoted to unraveling the causes and characteristics of the crisis and decline that affected the Spanish Empire from the last decades of the 16th century until the middle of the 17th century are critically presented. Since the 1950s, the emergence and consolidation of various historiographical schools, defined by theoretical frameworks and study themes, have fertilized the vast and complex field of study devoted to unraveling the causes and characteristics of the crisis of the Spanish Golden Age. This work is an analytical synthesis that seeks to systematize the main contributions made to date.
