    El propósito del presente trabajoes el de analizar el significado histórico del epitafiode la lauda del mercader aragonés de origen judío Gabriel Zaporta, pieza situada en su capilla funeraria de La Seo de Zaragoza. Debido a diversas vicisitudes, su texto latino se hallaba gravemente dañado y, de hecho, en un estado del todo ininteligible. Con todo, el examen de varias fotografías antiguas nos ha permitido reconstruirlo en su integridad y, de paso, integrarlo en el contexto biográfico del personaje.

    The purpose of this work is to analyse the historical significance of the epitaph on the tombslabof the Aragonese merchant of Jewish origin Gabriel Zaporta, located in his funerary chapel in ‘La Seo’of Saragossa (i.e., the cathedral of the city). Due to various vicissitudes, its Latin text was severely damaged and, actually, in a completely unintelligiblecondition. However, the examination of several old photographs has allowed us to reconstruct it in its entirety and, in the process, integrate it into the biographical context of the individual.
