    En este artículo buscamos indagar en las consultas del Consejo de Estado para recuperar las intervenciones del II conde de Castrillo en los años 1665-1668. Dichas alocuciones estaban directamente vinculadas a su pasado como gobernador y presidente del Consejo de Indias y reflejaban su interés por poner a los territorios americanos en el centro de la política exterior de la Monarquía Hispana. Analizamos los registros de las consultas para dar cuenta de las distintas posturas respecto de la presencia inglesa en el Mar Caribe y el legítimo reclamo de su devolución frente a una posible paz.

    In this paper we seek to investigate the constultas of the Council of State to recover the interventions of the II Count of Castrillo in the years 1665-1668. These speeches were directly linked to his past as governor and president of the Council of the Indies and reflected his interest in putting the American territories at the center of the foreign policy of the Hispanic Monarchy. We analyze the records of the consultations to account for the different positions regarding the English presence in the Caribbean Sea and the legitimate demand for its return in the face of a possible peace.
