La movilidad de los indígenas wayuu: migración y contacto de lenguas

    Este artículo presenta una investigación sobre las principales causas migratorias de los wayuu a las zonas urbanas de Colombia y Venezuela y del efecto que esto ha tenido en el contacto entre el wayuunaiki y el español. A través de entrevistas, observaciones etno-gráficas y consultas bibliográficas, se identifican las causas voluntarias y forzadas de esta migración duradera, la cual continúa desarrollándose. El asentamiento en zonas urbanas y el creciente bilingüismo en los wayuu facilitan el desarrollo de un etnolecto propio del grupo étnico, distinguido por el uso de préstamos lexicales, combinaciones morfosintácticas y alter-nancia de códigos. Este trabajo contribuye a la literatura existente mediante la identificación de más rasgos y ejemplos de los productos de ese contacto lingüístico y cultural.

    This article presents an investigation of the main causes of migration of the Wayuu to urban areas of Colombia and Venezuela and the effect this has caused on the con-tact between Wayuunaiki and Spanish. Through interviews, ethnographic observations and bibliographic consultations, we identify the voluntary and forced causes of this long-lasting migration that continues to develop. The settlement in urban areas and the growing bilin-gualism of the Wayuu facilitates the development of an ethnolect specific to the ethnic group, distinguished by the use of lexical borrowings, morphosyntactic combinations and codeswitching. This paper contributes to the existing literature by identifying more features and examples of the products of this linguistic and cultural contact.
