In this article it is paramount, beyond intention and belief, to analyze how ideas and thought, together with opinions, drive action and are fundamental to understand the behavior and social transformation of France at the end of the eighteenth century. In this sense, the French Revolution is considered by historiography as the empirical development of new ideas and thoughts in political action, with the desire to put an end to the past and create a new system in accordance with the interests of the bourgeoisie and the intellectual ideals of the eighteenth century.

In this way, we have proceeded firstly to a review of the Enlightenment ideas and, secondly, to a critical analysis of their subsequent political application in their most revolutionary version in order to provide new interpretations of the French revolutionary process. Thus, the article examines the influence of the idea of revolution on the mentality of the time, as well as the material objectives of that project and the behavior of the social groups of the time
