The use of audiovisual content for educational purposes is used with all kinds of audiences. In the field of positive psychology and emotional education, it is also an applied resource. This contribution is a proposal for working on well-being in educational environments. It is articulated through a comparative analysis of the contents of the film Groundhog Day, directed by Harold Ramis, and some of the activities proposed in the book The How of Happiness, by Sonja Lyubomirsky (2011). The contribution, based on the experiences of the main character in the film, offers practical guidelines for improving personal well-being. The specific areas that the paper proposes in order to improve happiness are: coping with difficulties, optimism, social relationships, commitment to life goals, connection to the present moment and a sense of transcendence. It is considered that the contribution can be a useful resource to stimulate the promotion of well-being by relying on an entertaining film and offering specific guidelines to promote this state that are related to the film’s contents
