  • Resumen
    • The effects of bone health in regard to mobility and quality of life have become an increasingly pivotal focus for health care providers in the United States and globally. I would like to thank Dr Camacho for providing a comprehensive and efficient up-todate primer on the topic of osteoporosis. The compiled articles address newer ways of diagnosing osteoporosis, such as the use of trabecular bone scoring and evaluating fracture risk, the fracture risk assessment tool (FRAX). Topics examined include osteoporosis in special populations, such as premenopausal patients, those with chronic kidney disease, and those afflicted with spinal cord injuries. Newer ways of managing osteoporosis with anabolic agents and denosumab, as well as the potential correlates of such management, including atypical fractures, are critically covered in three separate articles. Finally, summary articles on the diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis, including a review of the most up-to-date guidelines, are also provided. This issue should prove of utmost usefulness to those managing patients at risk of osteoporosis
