    El archivo parece siempre ser una cuestión de espacio. Sin embargo, se despliega en una triple dimensión que potencialmente fractura esa espacialidad. Colección, edificio e institución coinciden en la misma palabra: el archivo como la colección de documentos, objetos y registros; el archivo como el espacio físico que los contiene (ya sea un mueble, una habitación o un edificio); y el archivo como institución encargada de su custodia y conservación. La palabra se usa para referir a estas tres dimensiones que no siempre se ajustan.

    The archive always seems to be a matter of space. However, it unfolds in a threefold dimension that potentially disrupts this spatiality. Collection, building, and institution converge in the same word: the archive as the collection of documents, objects, and records; the archive as the physical space that contains them (whether a cabinet, a room, or a building); and the archive as the institution responsible for their custody and preservation. The term is used to refer to these three dimensions, which do not always align.
