  • Resumen
    • Human Anatomy teaching in Health Sciences is a fundamental discipline in the first-year curriculum of biomedical degrees, forming the basis of future clinical knowledge. Despite its broad scope, Human Anatomy faces the challenge of limited instructional hours, making it difficult for both students and educators. This often results in delayed recognition of the functionality of the musculoskeletal system and its clinical implications until later courses or during professional practice. A muscular movement simulation workshop was developed in the Dissection Room during the first trimester of the 2024-2025 academic year, using elastic bands and human skeleton models. This workshop was integrated on General Anatomy course for first-year medical students, focused on the dissection of the lower limb across three seminars. Prior to the workshop, students accessed an instructional video, detailing the procedures. The simulation required students to attach an elastic band between two muscular insertions on the osteological model, simulating muscle movement. Students were expected to identify a primary and a secondary function for each muscle listed. Feedback from the 109 participating students rated the workshop as a productive experience that enhanced their understanding of the subject, suggesting that such simulation workshops can significantly improve practical skills acquisition and theoretical understanding of Human Anatomy in early medical education
