    El interés de este trabajo consiste en comprender la relevancia política y estratégica que tuvo la figura emergente de Procopius Anthemios para el Imperio en su conjunto y en momentos de verdadera crisis para Occidente y como una garantía de paz. Indagar en las circunstancias que rodearon su ascenso al trono, sus decisiones políticas, su relación con la corte de la pars orientis y las implicancias de su reinado en la pars occidentis constituyen el objetivo central de este estudio.

    Con esta finalidad se analizarán los sucesos previos que fueron el prolegómeno de esta etapa, que enmarcaron su designación, así como su actuación histórica hasta su caída.

    The following investigation aims to understand the political and strategic relevance which the emerging figure of Procopius Anthemios had for the Empire as a whole and in moments of true crisis for West, and also as a peace guarantee. To investigate the circumstances surrounding his rise to the throne, political decisions, his relationship with the pars occidentis court and the implications of his reign in pars orientis constitute the main objective of this study. With this purpose, the previous events that preluded to this stage will be analyzed, which framed his designation as well as his historical performance until his fall.
