    This article set out to understand how the phenomenon of medicalization in mental health is expressed in reality of immigrants, based on an integrative literature review. It was found that the expression of the phenomenon of medicalization in the reality of immigrants is social, political, moral and cultural issues into psychiatric diagnoses. cultural issues into psychiatric and individual diagnoses. Medicalization acquires exclusion of immigrants by colonizing their affections and behavioral and cultural manifestations, transforming them into psychopathologies. At the same time at the same time, the psychiatric diagnosis of the immigrant has the function of giving legitimacy to suffering and access to legal and political rights in the host country.

    Este artigo se propôs compreender como o fenômeno da medicalização em saúde mental se expressa na realidade dos imigrantes internacionais, a partir de uma revisão integrativa da literatura. Verificou-se que a expressão do fenômeno da medicalização na realidade dos imigrantes se relaciona com a transformação de questões sociais, políticas, morais e culturais em diagnósticos psiquiátricos e individuais. A medicalização adquire caráter de exclusão dos imigrantes ao colonizar seus afetos e manifestações comportamentais e culturais, transformando-as em psicopatologias. Ao mesmo tempo, o diagnóstico psiquiátrico mediante o imigrante apresenta a função de conferir legitimidade ao sofrimento e acesso a direitos jurídicos e políticos no país de acolhimento.
