    The aim of this article is to analyse the roles developed by Rahul, a critical cat in the novel The Naked Hours, by Lygia Fagundes Telles, as one of the facets in the game of representation presents in the book. In the narrative texture of The Naked Hours, Rahul becomes himself into a mirror to both Rosa, the protagonist, and the human condition over time, in which the reminiscences of their past lives, lived as human beings, intermingle with those of the spectres that fade away or remain in the apartment where the cat lives with the protagonist, corroborating the boundaries between invention and memory, remembrance and forgetting in the exercise of literary creation by Lygia Fagundes Telles.

    O objetivo deste artigo é analisar os papéis desempenhados pela personagem Rahul, um gato dotado de pensamento crítico e de onisciência seletiva, no romance As Horas Nuas, de Lygia Fagundes Telles, como uma das facetas do jogo de representação presentes no livro. Na tessitura narrativa do romance, Rahul revela-se como espelho de Rosa, a protagonista, e da condição humana ao longo dos tempos, na medida em que a matéria das reminiscências de suas vidas pregressas, vividas como ser humano, imiscuem-se com as dos espectros que se esvanecem ou permanecem no apartamento onde o gato mora com a protagonista, corroborando os limites entre invenção e memória, lembrança e esquecimento no exercício da criação literária da escritora paulistana.
