    Este trabajo se centra en la novela Al final siempre ganan los monstruos (López, 2021). El objeto de estudio lo constituyen las representaciones de la juventud de clase trabajadora del medio rural que vertebran el relato. Se argumenta que este muestra una cierta capacidad para ofrecer otra mirada de las narrativas dominantes sobre el mundo rural. El objetivo de esta propuesta es mostrar cómo esta novela, además de cuestionar el discurso literario imperante, hace visibles individualidades subalternas y examina la matriz social de algunos de los problemas de la juventud rural actual, en particular el consumo de drogas ilegales.

    This paper focuses on the novel Al final siempre ganan los monstruos (López, 2021). The object of study is the representations of the working-class youth of rural areas that backbone the story. It is argued that this story shows a certain capacity to offer a different view from the dominant narratives about the rural world. The aim of this proposal is to show how this novel, apart from questioning the prevailing literary discourse, makes subaltern individualities visible and examines the social matrix of some of the problems of today’s rural youth, in particular the use of illegal drugs.
