Roles de las mujeres en las noticias sobre suicidios en la prensa de los años 20 y 30

    La revisión de archivos de prensa de los años 20 y 30 del siglo XX permitió seleccionar una muestra de 145 publicaciones periodísticas sobre suicidios en los diarios “La Patria” y “La Voz de Caldas” de Manizales (Colombia). Aunque dos tercios de las notas aluden a suicidios de hombres, incluso en estos textos aparecen referencias femeninas. El análisis del tratamiento informativo de este tipo de contenidos permite identificar al menos tres tipos de representación de la mujer en las noticias sobre suicidio: la mujer suicida, la mujer víctima del suicida y la mujer culpable del suicidio.

    The review of press files from the 20s and 30s of the 20th century allowed us to select a sample of 145 journalistic publications on suicides in the newspapers “La Patria” and “La Voz de Caldas” from Manizales (Colombia). Although two thirds of the articles allude to male suicides, even in these texts there are references to women. The analysis of the informative treatment of this type of content makes it possible to identify at least three types of representation of women in the news about suicide: suicidal woman, the woman victim of the suicide and the woman guilty of the suicide.
