It is well known by all that, in 1512, the indulgence of Santo Toribio, whose origins date back to the High Middle Ages, received the sanction of the Holy See and, thus, became a jubilee In perpetuum. However, this proclamation was not, in the light of the documentation, willingly accepted either by some high levels of the Church hierarchy or by certain powers of the temporal order that, being aware of the presumed damage that this could cause them, did not They hesitated to resort to justice. The objective of this study is not only to reveal or unravel the motivations of these agents, but, through the study of a probanza made before the apostolic courts and judges throughout the year 1513, to put it in a broader context and to see what extent this position was based on the eventsthat occurred in the immediately preceding centuries.
