Identidad y otredad. Transformación y pervivencia del mito de Atalanta de la Antigüedad a la Modernidad

    En este artículo estudio los elementos del mito de Atalanta que permitieron su pervivencia desde la Antigüedad hasta nuestros días. Encuentro que el período clásico usó su figura para recordar el rol de las mujeres en sus estructuras sociales; el Renacimiento, para advertir sobre el peligro de su naturaleza y la necesidad de su dominación, y la Modernidad, para enunciar la resistencia de la otredad subordinada. Así, a través de un análisis comprehensivo de sus versiones y variantes a nivel literario e iconográfico, argumento que la articulación entre identidad y otredad en este mito es un dispositivo para su transformación y pervivencia.

    In this paper, I examine which elements of the myth of Atalanta enabled its survival from Antiquity to the present day. I find in the classical period her figure was used to recall the role of women in society; the Renaissance, to warn about the danger of her nature and the need for her domination; and Modernity, to enunciate the resistance of subordinated alterity. Thus, through a comprehensive study of literary and iconographic versions and variants of the myth, I argue that the articulation between identity and alterity is a device for its transformation and survival.
