Las investigaciones referidas a las ánforas de los siglos II-I a.C. en la región de Epiro apenas hantenido lugar. Existe un vacío en estos estudios específicos. Gracias a una beca de investigación“Margarita Salas”, este artículo muestra los primeros resultados sobre este tema. Para obtener unavisión general acerca de la circulación de ánforas de transporte en el Epiro griego, se ha trabajadoen la identificación de lugares de producción y la definición de las tipologías y cronologías deproducción de las ánforas importadas en los actuales distritos de Ioannina y Thesprotia. Losresultados ofrecen una visión general de las conexiones y dependencias comerciales de estaregión con el resto del Mediterráneo durante los dos últimos siglos de la República Romana.

Research on 2nd-1st century BC transport amphorae in the Epirus region has been neglected byscholars, resulting in a gap in this specific field. Thanks to a “Margarita Salas” research grant,this paper can present the first results of new research on this topic. To obtain fresh knowledgeon the circulation of transport amphorae in Epirus, research focussed on the identification ofthe places of production and on the definition of the typology and chronologies of the importedamphorae in the districts of Ioannina and Thesprotia. The results offer an overview of the region’sconnections and commercial interactions with the rest of the Mediterranean during the last twocenturies of the Roman Republic.
