Model of parallel causes: a new way of understanding biological sex, its epistemological problems and its consequences in biomedicine

  • The definition of biological sex has undergone modifications in the last 20 years, in that period multiple primary determination factors that are associated with different diseases have been described. Despite this, this definition continues to present epistemological problems such as explanatory reduction, binary and biological logic. The offenses of this definition not only bring problems at the time of its interpretation, but also, at the time of its implementation in the primary health care for all those people who do not belong to the CIS - adultocentric standards. The objective of this work is to highlight that interdisciplinary aspects can be taken in biomedical research to produce more inclusive knowledge.
