With the purpose of determining the influence of educational work on hygienic practices and the prevalence of parasitism, an educational intervention on intestinal parasitism was carried out in schoolchildren belonging to the Camilo Cienfuegos Primary School, El Rosario community, during the period from February 2017- May 2018. The study included 51 children enrolled from preschool to sixth grade, to whom stool samples were collected in the anal region by Graham's method. A survey was administered to parents to learn about hygienic practices and hygienic-epidemiological conditions. The variables studied were the presence of parasitism, type of parasite, associated symptoms and hygienic practices present. Absolute numbers and percentages were used to summarize the information and tables were used for presentation. The prevalence of parasitism was 84,31 % and Enterobius vermicularis was the most frequent. Anal pruritus and irritability were the predominant symptoms for which treatment was applied. Learning needs and attitude modifications were identified, for which a study program was designed. Six months after the educational intervention, a second sample was taken and the parents' survey was applied for the second time. A significant decrease in parasitism was found, as well as positive modifications in the hygienic practices of the population studied.
