The examination of the larynx and as a whole of the upper airway is of vital importance for the management of many entities that generate not only dysphonia, but can also constitute a threat to the patient's life, so a study is conducted with the aim of demonstrating the effectiveness of local anesthesia in surgery and laryngotracheal exploration for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes. An applied, longitudinal, prospective and interventional research was conducted at the University Hospital "Abel Santamaría Cuadrado" in the period from June 2015 to June 2017. A strategy was developed to protocolize and use the described technique. Expert criteria were prepared for its validation. The universe was made up of 37 patients who were seen in ENT consultation, or admitted to the aforementioned hospital, and who, due to their health condition at that time, needed laryngotracheobronchial endoscopic exploration, meeting the inclusion criteria. It was concluded that the protocol was validated according to expert criteria. The procedure was effective in a high percentage of patients, mostly male and from 41 to 50 years old, carriers of dysphonia or inspiratory dyspnea, tumors were the most frequent affections and the technique used is useful and effective, being protocolized and validated, which allows its extension to other services of the province and the country.
