    Durante el Barroco la ciudad de Baza fue un centro cultural que abasteció de artístas no sólo a las villas vinculadas a su Abadía sino a poblaciones de los obispados de Guadix-Baza y de Almería, llegando hasta las capitales de ambas diócesis. En este periodo histórico se asentaron en la urbe varios tallistas y escultores, centrándonos hoy en el taller de los Alós, saga procedente de Játiva (Valencia) que desarrolló su labor artística a lo largo de más de una centuria, desde la década de los ochenta del siglo XVII hasta el último tercio del XVIII

    During the Baroque period, the city of Baza was a cultural centre that supplied artists not only to the towns linked to its Abbey but also to the towns of the bishoprics of Guadix-Baza and Almeria, reaching the capitals of both dioceses.In this historical period, several carvers and sculptors settled in the city, focusing today on the workshop of the Alós, a saga from Játiva (Valencia) that developed its artistic work over more than a century, from the eighties of the seventeenth century to the last third of the eighteenth century.
