The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between the growths of Pseudotsuga menziesii(Mirb.) Franco and the Vapor Pressure Deficit (VPD) in the Sierra Madre Oriental (SMOr). Were selected 123 trees in four different sites, Sierra Las Alazanas(LAS), Sierra La Viga(LVA), Sierra La Marta (LMA) and Sierra El Tarillal(ETL), 380 samples were extracted with the help of a Pressler increment borer. Each of the samples was analyzed and dated based on standard dendrochronological techniques. The 98.68% of the samples were dated with the help of the COFECHA program and four different chronologies were generated for which the ARSTAN program was used. A principal component analysis (PCA) indicated common variability among the series and a regional chronology with an extension of 313 years (1710 -2022) was developed, which indicates a correlation between series of r = 0.669 (p < 0.01) and a mean sensitivity of 0.301. Climatic records were extracted from the ERA5-Land Monthly Aggregated -ECMWF Climate Reanalysis platform, which covered the period from 1950 to 2022 (73 years). The climatic data were correlated with the ring width indices. The response function analysis indicates that the DPV modulates in a negative and highly significant way (r = -0.6649; p < 0.01) the growth of the species for this region of the SMOr. This variable has the potential to be reconstructed and its records extended based on the chronologies of this species
