    Juan Peñalver Espín, de edad centenaria, es la memoria viva del Cehegín del siglo XX. Nacido en 1923 ha conocido y vivido todas las etapas de su historia desde la Dictadura de Primo de Rivera hasta lo que llevamos de siglo XXI. Hombre de memoria clara, aún recuerda bien aquellos tiempos de la Guerra Civil y la Posguerra. Bien dicen que la gente mayor recuerda más y mejor lo vivido antes. Fue alcalde de Cehegín, empresario alpargatero, hombre siempre querido y admirado en el pueblo.

    Juan Peñalver Espín, a centenarian man, is the living memory of the Cehegín of the 20th century. Born in 1923, he has known and lived through all the stages of history from the Primo de Rivera Dictatorship to the present day of the 21st century. A man with a clear memory, he still remembers well those times of the Civil War and the Post-War period. They say that older people remember more and better what they experienced before. He was mayor of Cehegín, an espadrille businessman, a man always loved and admired in the town.
