    La unión del reino de Aragón con el condado de Barcelona causó desde el inicio una reflexión tanto política como histórica relativa a las tradiciones que se iban a fusionar. Con el tiempo y la repetición de los mismos nombres para unos monarcas afloró la necesidad de distinguir el uno del otro cuando se encuentran fuera de una cadena genealógica. Se analizan aquí las distintas formas, expresando el nivel de parentela, mediante un apodo o el uso de numerales. A este respecto se argumenta cuál es la forma históricamente correcta de usarlos cuando se habla de Corona de Aragón.

    The union of the kingdom of Aragon with the county of Barcelona immediately caused both political and historical reflection on the traditions that were going to merge. With time and the repetition of the same names for some monarchs, the need to distinguish one from the another emerged when the names were out of a genealogical chain. The different forms are analyzed here, expressing the level of kinship, through a nickname or the use of numerals. In this regard, it is argued which is the historically correct way to use them when speaking of the Crown of Aragon.
