    Este artículo narra en primera persona, iniciativas relativas a la memoria histórica con pobladores y sindicalistas que se desarrollaron en la ciudad de Santiago, desde fines de los años setenta y a lo largo de la década de los ochenta. Se sostiene que la memoria fue un campo de confluencia, entre jóvenes historiadores y personas provenientes de organizaciones sociales populares; entre la historia del tiempo presente y la Educación Popular. Se pone énfasis en el valor de la memoria como campo de resistencia a la dictadura, pero sobre todo en los aprendizajes que representó para los diversos actores implicados en estas iniciativas. A los historiadores los interpeló y estimuló para pensar nuevos enfoques y preguntas que les hizo transitar, desde las formas tradicionales de la historiografía hacia la historia social popular; es decir, una historia capaz de reconocer y dialogar con los sujetos populares. Un giro epistémico se comenzaba a constituir en estos años, desde distintos lugares y actores de la disciplina. La narrativa se cierra con algunas reflexiones relativas a la recuperación de la democracia y el lugar de los sectores populares en ese inédito proceso.

    This article narrates in first person, initiatives related to historical memory with the pobladores and trade unionists, developed in the city of Santiago since the late seventies and throughout the eighties of the past century. It is argued that memory was a field of confluence among young historians and people from grassroots movements; between the disciplines of History of present time and Popular Education. Emphasis is placed on the value of memory as a field of resistance to the dictatorship, but above all, on the learnings it meant for the various actors involved in these initiatives. Learnings that in case of historians challenged and stimulated them to think in new approaches and questions that made them move from traditional historiography towards social history, which meant, a history able to recognize and dialogue with popular subjects. An epistemic turn began to be constituted in these years, from different places and actors of the discipline. The narrative closes with some thoughts on the recuperation of democracy and the role of the popular sectors in a process never seen before.
