    Los guías especializados son uno de los elementos centrales de la experiencia turística. El objetivo fue analizar los principales impactos del COVID-19 en este grupo y su percepción con relación al manejo y gestión de la crisis en las Islas Galápagos. Este es un análisis exploratorio mixto para lo cual se utilizaron encuestas a guías y entrevistas semiestructuradas a actores claves y guías. Entre los resultados se determinó que la pandemia los afectó mucho; sin embargo, son esenciales en la reactivación turística pues son el principal vínculo entre los turistas y los destinos.

    The specialized guides are a key element in the tourism experience. The main objective was to analyze the main impacts of COVID-19 in this group and their perception in relation with the management of the crisis in the Galapagos Islands. This is a mixed exploratory analysis for which surveys were carried out, along with semi-structured interviews to stakeholders and guides. The main results determine that the guides were highly affected by the pandemic; however, they are essential for the touristic recovery as they are the link between tourists and destinations.
