Eating disorders are severe psychiatric illnesses associated with physical and psychological morbidity and mortality. Their incidence has increased, highlighting the emerging public health importance of these conditions and their comorbidities. Oral healthcare professionals may be among the first to observe the signs and symptoms of an eating disorder due to the recognizable links with oral pathology. It is crucial that they are sufficiently informed and confident in diagnosing and treating oral comorbidities. This review describes the oral impacts of Anorexia Nervosa (AN) and Bulimia Nervosa (BN) in the oral cavity, and presents a related case study.
