    Este artículo recoge una anécdota vital en la biografía del pensador argelino ‘Abd al-Ḥamīd Ibn Bādīs (1889-1940): su peregrinación a La Meca y su estancia en Egipto a la edad de 24 años. Este viaje se plantea como el punto de partida para la implantación en Argelia del movimiento reformista islámico, que marcará el devenir cultural y político del país antes y después de la independencia.

    Abd al-Hamīd Ibn Bādīs (1889-1940) was an ideologist of Islamic reformism and leader of Algerian nationalism. This biography reflects the story of the Algerian thinker when he travelled to Mecca and Egypt at the age of 24. These trips influenced him in such a way, that he implemented the Algeria's Islamic Reform Movement that transformed the country culturally and politically during the period of the independence.
