La discreta lectura de Llull a la cort napolitana d’Alfons el Magnànim

  Llull, filòsof de cultura polièdrica i d’irradiació continental, no interessà gaire a la cort napolitana d’Alfons el Magnànim. Els humanistes es movien per estímuls culturals (clàssics grecollatins, filosofia moral preferida a la mística) on tenia difícil encaix el lul·lisme. L’autor del Curial (Nàpols? ca. 1448) prescindí, a diferència del Tirant escrit a València, de la concepció lul·liana de la cavalleria. L’excepció a aquest desinterés el representaren alguns mallorquins (Mateu Malferit, Ferran Valentí, Joan Valero) servidors del monarca del Ram de Mills: una divisa de matriu lul·liana.

  Llull, the philosopher of the polyhedral culture disseminated in the European continent, did not interest the Neapolitan court of Alfons the Magnanimous. Its humanists were motivated by cultural stimuli (Gaeco-Roman classics, moral philosophy rather than mystic) where Lullian philosophy did not have a role to play. The author of Curial (Naples-Milan?, ca. 1445-1448) did not take into consideration the Lullian concept of chivalry (which was in fact followed by the Valencian Tirant). The exception to this trend was represented by some Majorcan scholars (Mateu Malferit, Ferran Valentí, Joan Valero), royal servants belonging to the “ram de mills” (a motto inspired by Llull himself).
