    Elaborar un relat per intentar presentar de forma simple el procés històric de la comprensió de la causa de les reaccions químiques és una tasca inabastable. El relat històric és molt complex, aglutina diferents itineraris de recerca amb múltiples actors en contextos per força diferents i al llarg de molts segles. Els autors hem procurat mantenir un relat cronològic tot seleccionant aquells episodis que hem considerat més significatius. El nostre objectiu ha estat proveir d’un mínim de referents històrics que ajudin a comprendre quina ha estat l’evolució històrica de les idees sobre la causa dels canvis químics.

    To shape a narrative to attempt presenting in a clear simple way the historical process of understanding the cause of chemical reactions is an unattainable task. The historical account is very complex, bringing together different research pathways with multiple actors in quite different contexts and over many centuries. The authors have intended to keep a chronological account while selecting those episodes that we have considered most relevant. Our aim has been to provide the minimum number of historical references to help understand the historical evolution of ideas on the cause of chemical changes.
