  • Resumen
    • The translation process contributes to the realization of cultural contacts between communities. Each community has its own particular cultural patterns. Translation is not only the process of passing from one language to another, but also the crossing from one culture to another. Words in each language have different meanings, there are culture-specific words and concepts which have no direct equivalents in another language, these are the idioms, so to say, the phraseological units. Their translation is difficult because of their cultural differences. As translation is placed at the core of intercultural aspects, it goes along with the cultural studies.

The present article is dedicated to the cultural difficulties in translating English phraseological units into Romanian.
