  • Resumen
    • The present article aims at underlining the author’s perspective on the individual, seen as a source of evil, in Eugen Ionesco’s The Killer. Generating death via the social and political events which he induces, he himself is subject to his own existential condition. The criterion approach is the social one, referring to the totalitarian ideologies and to both the collective behaviour and the metaphysical one. The comedy is the author’s first overt warning against the evil induced by the totalitarian regimes and their absurdity. The killer represents the inevitable death, the evil inflicted in the dailiness, the absurdity of the human existence dominated by the evil. “The light city” at the beginning of the play, the archetype of Eden, is the image of a world whose all social problems have been solved, out of which all the suffering reasons have been eliminated, in the context of the marxist socialism, but it is defiled by the political context associated to the totalitarianism via the caricatured image of the demagogue, the godmother Pipa.
