The world is changing rapidly and the need to adopt sustainable behaviour is increasinglyurgent, not just in architecture. Is it possible to innovate while making conscious and responsiblechoices? Technological innovation is not necessarily green and alone is not the solution to problemsbut, paradoxically, if not well directed, it can become a problem to solutions. Innovation is just a tooland, to be truly sustainable, must start from design. In this context, the concrete case of water citiesis analysed. They require a peculiar approach precisely because of the presence of the water element.
