ApS “Repensar los barrios de Madrid”. Una palanca para la regeneración de los barrios vulnerables

    Este texto presenta la contribución del Proyecto Aprendizaje-Servicio (ApS) “Repensar losbarrios de Madrid” a la aplicación de la metodología ApS en el urbanismo, y en particular enla docencia de la regeneración urbana. El proyecto persigue tres objetivos interrelacionados:i) trabajar la reconexión de la sociedad con el urbanismo desde la docencia de laregeneración urbana, a través de la prestación de un servicio por parte del alumnado; ii)hacer el aprendizaje de la regeneración urbana más significativo para el alumnado al ponerleen contacto con la realidad de los barrios vulnerables sobre los que actúa la regeneración; iii)visibilizar la importancia de atender la problemática de los barrios vulnerables de Madrid a lasociedad. Los tres objetivos se han perseguido desde una metodología aplicada al taller delas asignaturas de regeneración urbana donde el ApS ha quedado plenamente integrado enla guía de aprendizaje. Esta metodología se ha construido en base a la experienciadesarrollada en un ApS-UPM previo, reforzando la interacción entre los diferentes actoresinvolucrados en el proyecto (las asociaciones vecinales, el alumnado, el profesorado), paradar lugar a un marco que reproduce un proceso de participación de la comunidad localdentro del curso (aportando aprendizaje). Dicho marco deriva en un servicio por parte delalumnado a la asociación vecinal (diagnóstico del barrio y estrategia de regeneración).Los resultados muestran que los objetivos se han alcanzado, potenciándose la motivacióndel alumnado hacia la asignatura. Se identifica, asimismo, la capacidad del ApS de acercar laUniversidad a la sociedad en relación a una cuestión tan importante como la calidad de vidaen los barrios.

    This text presents the contribution of the Service-Learning Project “Rethinking theneighborhoods of Madrid” to the application of the ApS methodology in urban planning, and inparticular in the teaching of urban regeneration. The project pursues three interrelatedobjectives: i) work on the reconnection of society with urban planning from the teaching ofurban regeneration, through the provision of a service by students; ii) make learning abouturban regeneration more meaningful for students by putting them in contact with the reality ofthe vulnerable neighborhoods on which regeneration acts; iii) make visible the importance ofaddressing the problems of vulnerable neighborhoods in Madrid. The three objectives havebeen pursued from a methodology applied to urban regeneration courses where the servicelearninghas been fully integrated in the didactical methodology. The project is based on theexperience developed in a previous service-learning experience, reinforcing the interactionbetween the different actors involved (neighborhood associations, students, teachers), to giverise to a framework that reproduces a local community participation process within the course(providing learning). This framework results in a service from the students to the neighborhoodassociation (diagnosis of the neighborhood and regeneration strategy).The results show that the objectives have been achieved, enhancing the students' motivationtowards the courses. Likewise, the ability of the ApS to bring the University closer to society isidentified in relation to an issue as important as the quality of life in the neighborhoods.
