Almost every Indian coastal city had a port that enticed traders from Greece, Rome, Egypt, and China since time immemorial. The colonial influence expediated trade and transformed theseports into bustling centres of global commerce. The quintessence of foreign influences interwoven into the native fabric, left a rich cultural tapestry on these port cities. The port city of Kochi is onesuch exemplar of European urbanism juxtaposed into native character. Employing a retrospective approach, this research analyses Kochi's spatial syntax with other port city models underscoring the significance of conse rving the cultural landscape that continue to resonate its historicity
