Reflexiones en torno a las batallas rituales realizadas en honor a la diosa Toci en la veintena de Ochpaniztli

    En el presente artículo se analizan las tres batallas rituales de Zonecali, Zacacali y Tizapaloliztli realizadas en honor a la diosa Toci durante la veintena de Ochpaniztli, a partir de las diferentes características que las conformaban, los lugares en donde eran celebradas y sus implicaciones dentro de los modelos rituales y sociales. A partir de ello se presentan algunos nuevos postulados en torno a ellas, que  denotan los posibles alcances y las relaciones que mantenían con el inicio de la temporada de la guerra y la cosecha, en las que podrían llegar a fungir como una forma de autosacrificio, así como una especie de bautismo en armas para los jóvenes guerreros que irían por vez primera a la guerra.

    In this article, I analyze the three ritual battles of Zonecali, Zacacali and Tizapaloliztli celebrated to honor the goddess Toci during the Ochpaniztli feast. Based on the different aspects of these rituals, the places where they were performed, and their various implications within the social and ritual models, I put forward some new meanings regarding them: possible implications and relationships of the battles with the beginning of the war and the harvest season. The ritual battles could serve as a form of self-sacrifice, as well as a kind of baptism in arms for the young warriors who would join the war for the first time.
