    Los puertos son un activo estratégico en constante transformación y adaptación a las nuevas necesidades del mercado, los clientes, los operadores, el entorno… En este artículo analizamos su papel, y en especial el del primer puerto español por volumen de actividad, el Puerto Bahía de Algeciras, desde el punto de vista de diferentes dimensiones: la económica, la industrial, la energética, la ambiental y la de la seguridad.

    Con este análisis justificaremos la necesidad de una mayor implicación de las administraciones competentes para seguir siendo competitivos en el lado mar y trasladar toda nuestra potencialidad al lado tierra. En este último aspecto, a través de la mejora de infraestructuras y del control del tráfico internacional de mercancías, principalmente.

    Ports are a strategic asset in constant transformation and adaptation to the new needs of the market, customers, operators, the environment... In this article we analyze their role, and especially that of the first Spanish port by volume of activity, Puerto Bahía of Algeciras, from the point of view of different dimensions: economic, industrial, energy, environmental and security.

    With this analysis we will justify the need for greater involvement of the competent administrations to remain competitive on the sea side and transfer all our potential to the land side. In this last aspect, mainly through the improvement of infrastructure and the control of international merchandise traffic.
