    La sostenibilidad es, junto con la transformación digital y en estrecha relación con esta, una de las principales palancas que están definiendo el nuevo modelo de transporte a nivel global. La sostenibilidad ha de conducirse desde el rigor en la planificación con el objeto de diseñar sistemas que sean lo más eficientes y atiendan a las demandas más relevantes, sin olvidar que el transporte constituye un elemento clave de la cohesión social, la vertebración del territorio y la igualdad de oportunidades, aspectos que deben garantizarse aprovechando al máximo las ventajas que ofrece la capilaridad y multimodalidad que están definiendo la realidad actual. El nuevo escenario está dominado por el ámbito urbano en el que aspectos como la contaminación atmosférica o la distribución de mercancías están marcando la agenda. El fomento de una activa participación social desde las fases conceptuales iniciales y la obtención de certificaciones ambientales que aseguren de forma independiente la sostenibilidad de las actuaciones ayudarán a construir un transporte mejor adaptado a la nueva sociedad.

    Sustainability is, together with and closely related to digital transformation, one of the main levers that are defining the new transport model at a global level. Sustainability must be conducted with rigorous planning in order to design systems that are as efficient as possible and meet the most relevant demands, without forgetting that transport is a key element of social cohesion, the structuring of the territory and equal opportunities, aspects that must be guaranteed by making the most of the advantages offered by the capillarity and multimodality that are defining the current reality. The new scenario is dominated by the urban environment in which aspects such as air pollution or the distribution of goods are setting the agenda.

    Encouraging active social participation from the initial conceptual phases and obtaining environmental certifications that independently ensure the sustainability of the actions will help to build a transport system that is better adapted to the new society.
