    La investigación ecdótica sobre una obra rodeada de tantas suposiciones como Las cient novelas de Juan Bocacio presenta un sinfín de retos en el plano editorial. Uno de los más significativos es el modelo que sirvió de fuente para la traducción castellana de la obra boccaccesca. En este artículo se expondrán las pruebas textuales y lingüísticas que demuestran sin lugar a dudas que el texto castellano fue traducido a partir de un modelo italiano. Esta investigación pone de manifiesto los numerosos italianismos que el traductor amoldó al contexto lingüístico de la lengua castellana, con más o menos éxito. Estos italianismos arrojarán luz sobre algunos rasgos o características presentes en la traducción original y sobre el modelo subyacente y el proceso de traducción. Todo esto sirve para resolver algunos de los dilemas editoriales observados a lo largo del texto.

    The ecdotic study of a text like Las cient novelas de Juan Bocacio,beset as it is by assumptions, presents a myriad of obstacles on an editorial level. One of the most significant of these is the model that was used as a source-text for this Castilian translation. In this article, I shall present the textual and linguistic evidence that shows without a doubt that the text was translated from an Italian model. I do this through an analysis of the numerous Italianisms that the translator moulded, successfully or not, to the linguistic context of Castilian. These Italianismswill shed light on some features or characteristics of the original translation, which will in turn shed light on the underlying model and the process of translation. All of this will begin to solve some of the editorial quandaries raised throughout the text.
