La construcción dicotómica del discurso sobre la identidad de las mujeres atacameñas del extremo norte de Chile

    Resumen: El artículo aborda discursos de identidad étnica en cinco mujeres atacameñas de la Región de Antofagasta, Chile. Los relatos dan cuenta de las herramientas discursivas empleadas por los sujetos para realizar representaciones sobre su identidad -de mujer indígena y de indígena urbana- en contextos sociales regionales, caracterizados por tensiones históricas entre distintos colectivos culturales. El objetivo de esta investigación es explorar la construcción discursiva de lo que se entiende por ser mujeres Lickan Antai en la actualidad. La metodología empleada para llevar a cabo el estudio cualitativo es el análisis crítico del discurso realizado en las entrevistas semiestructuradas a cinco mujeres atacameñas. El instrumento analítico proviene de la construcción discursiva de los actores sociales y de la legitimación de sus discursos. Los resultados informan de representaciones dicotómicas entre el mundo rural y urbano en el que la mujer atacameña urbana relata una historia de discriminación, soledad y lejanía de la tierra y de la familia, mientras que la atacameña indígena vive en cercanía con la tierra, las costumbres y la familia. La contribución del estudio no solo es aportar a la escasa información en este ámbito, sino que también es visibilizar y dar voz a la mujer atacameña contemporánea.

    Abstract: The article discusses the ethnic identity of five atacamenean women of the Antofagasta region, Chile. The narratives give an account of the discursive tools employed by the subjects to carry out representations about the identity of indigenous women and urban indig enous women in the región social contexts characterized by historical tensions among different cultural collectivities. The purpose of this research is to explore the discursive construction of what is understood as being a Lickan Antai woman today. The methodology employed to complete this qualitative research is the Critical Discourse Analysis approach. The data comes from the semistructured interviews with five atacamenean women. The analytical instrument comes from the discursive construction of the social actors and the legitimation of the actors' discourses. The results inform that the dichotomic representations in the rural and urban worlds in which the urban atacamenean woman narrates a story of discrimination, loneliness, and distance. In contrast, the indigenous atacamenean woman is connected to the land, the customs, and the family. This study contributes to expanding the limited information regarding this topic and bringing light and giving voice to the contemporary atacamenean woman.
