The use of cinema as a didactic resource in schools has a long-standing history, although its presence is not yet legitimized in the formal education system in Peru. Among other identified uses in the literature, cinema can be employed to generate debate, introduce or conclude topics, and motivate students. This article examines the experience and perception of teachers from private schools in Metropolitan Lima regarding the use and significance of cinema in the educational context. Employing a qualitative approach, the contents of eight semi-structured interviews with teachers from various subjects who incorporate cinema in their classrooms were analyzed. The findings reveal that the integration of cinema stems from individual initiative and self-directed learning. Additionally, teaching patterns were identified, such as specific objectives and the predominance of feature films in Humanities courses. The ease with which students navigate audiovisual environments presents an opportunity to integrate media into the school setting.
