Se presentan algunas reflexiones sobre el proceso de Investigación y Desarrollo Tecnológico en la Universidad del Valle, y en particular en el área de Ingeniería. Éstas surgen después de trasegar un camino difícil, largo y complejo, el cual han recorrido y recorren hoy muchos profesores que sueñan con hacer un aporte real a la solución de problemas sentidos de la sociedad. También en este artículo se plantea acerca de la influencia que en el lento avance del proceso de I&D, han tenido las normas y los procedimientos de evaluación de la producción intelectual que rigen las credenciales en la Universidad Colombiana. Se analiza un caso de I&D y se plantean algunas dificultades aparecidas buscando convertirlo en una solución aplicable.

Some reflections are presented on the Research and Technological Development process in the Universidad del Valle, and in particular in the area of Engineering. These arise after decanting a difficult, long and complex road, which has been traveled and is traveled today by many professors that dream of making a real contribution to the solution of felt problemas of the society. Also in this article is presented the influence that in the slow advance of the process of R&D have the policies and the procedures had in the evaluation of the intellectual production that govern the credentials in the Colombian University. A caea of R&D ia analyzed and some appeared difficulties are presented looking for transforming it into an applicable solution.
